v0.8.7 - Final Polishing and Android Demo Release
Heyyo, it’s CraftedCircuitry again. Progress has slowed since the demo release of v0.7.14_1 and I’ve just been focusing on getting the game to the public and resting from the game for a bit.
v0.7.14_1 Demo for Android Release
I said I’ll be releasing to Android in the future as well, and with the many changes for the past few months, I think I’m more confident in the Android demo now. Especially with the GLES2 change of rendering, it should work on a lot more Android phones now.
This is the dream actually. I’ve always wanted to have Deep Dark Wrath on mobile and I personally have been testing it more often on my phone, than my PC. The PC and Android versions are practically the same as long as they have the same Version Number.
For now, the fonts and text don’t update. So the books can be a struggle to read as they’re made for computer screens. I plan to change up the font size depending on screen size eventually.
It’s Been Roughly 6 Months
It has been a long 6 months. Nice to reminisce about the beginnings of the game, from the troubles of getting the mechanics modular and working right, to the countless weeks of dungeon layouting, and finally the long polishing phase, and of course, trying to market this game.
The Big v0.8 - Subtle Lore
I decided to give the game a short opening cinematic to introduce the Adventurer. This opening won’t show up again on the next startup. This adds a little bit more subtle lore about the game, it should be fairly simple to understand though.
I also decided to add more elements into the Dungeon, dark tendrils spawning when you get more Oracle Pieces, and a few more hidden gems in the Dungeon to spice up what you can find in it. These may help you understand the Dungeon, or better yet, may even help you have a better chance at what the Dungeon can throw at you.
v0.8.2_18 - Save Journal Backing Up with Android Permission Checking
This is not present in the demos yet, and only for the Full Version release. But one can now move Save Data more easily between PC and Android. I may still add platform-specific Cloud Saving, but since Itch is the only one with both PC and Android at this point, this will do for now. I will be adding detailed instructions on the Game Manual I’ll be making in the future as I release the game.
Final Polishing
While progress has been pretty small, it’s been pretty nice to rest and just enjoy the game for what it is now. I’m glad for what’s happened in the past few months, lots of changes and feedback received, and a lot of really good things happened with the game.
If you’re interested in the Android port, do check out the Demo I posted. If you have any feedback, place it on here or on the Free Demo Sticky Thread. It is always appreciated, especially with Androids having so many different combinations of hardware that can really make or break apps. If you do play the demo, it would be nice to also say the Android device you used so others with that device may know if the game does work or not. Or if it lags terribly, or if you open it the second time it doesn’t lag or something.
This has been CraftedCircuitry, signing off for now.
